Technology has become an integral component of the instructional
and learning process. A direct consequence of this growth in the use
of technology has caused higher education to look for ways to fund
its use. To meet this challenge, starting with 2000-2001 academic
year the University System of Georgia has imposed a mandatory technology
fee to help support the campus technology infrastructure and underwrite
some of the costs associated with academic computing and classroom
technology. Based on board policy, the use of these fees is restricted
to enhancing campus technology services and support, which directly
and visibly benefits the students.
